Heart & Graft started in James Guard's Manchester garage in 2012 as The Coffee Circle, becoming Heart & Graft in 2015 when Sean Fowler joined as co-founder. The seven-strong team now roasts from 21 North Street in north Manchester, with Frankie Randall as head roaster and Sean leading buying.
Their range is built around four flavour Archetypes, designed to help drinkers move from curiosity to consistency without the gatekeeping that often surrounds speciality coffee. They source through specialty importers and green coffee partners committed to paying farmers and cooperatives above commercial rates, and donate to World Coffee Research for every kilo purchased.
Coffee is exclusively specialty-grade, packed in biodegradable 1kg bags and recyclable LDPE pouches for smaller sizes, with reusable buckets offered to wholesale customers. The roastery has picked up a 2-star Great Taste award in 2024 and is an active SCA member.
Their position is straightforward: speciality coffee should be accessible regardless of where you start.
