Herbert and Ward is a long-established coffee and tea business based in Rochester, Kent, founded in 1929 by Messrs Herbert and Ward, who first met in India in 1920 and built a trade in coffee, tea, cocoa and spices across Africa, India, Ceylon, China and South East Asia. The company remains family-run and is now in its third generation under Nigel Miller.

From its Rochester roastery at 3 Southern House, the business roasts on a traditional drum machine described as a 0-emission roaster running 24 hours, with output ranging from 60kg to 6,000kg per day. The range covers blends including a Central and South American Classic, single origins, recyclable coffee pods and a Swiss Water decaffeinated coffee.

It supplies homes, independent coffee shops, offices, farm shops, hotels, leisure parks and restaurants, and offers commercial espresso machine sales, leasing, servicing and barista training. Visits are by prior arrangement.
