The Kent and Sussex Tea and Coffee Company is a family-run tea and coffee importer, packer and wholesaler based at Pivington Mill, Pluckley, in the Kentish Downs. Established in 1982 by the Smith family on their return to Kent from India, the business now spans three generations and trades through The Kent Tea and Trading Company, The Sussex Tea Company and Tea and Coffee dot com.
It operates from a converted Old Flax Mill and Dutch Barn and employs around 15 people from the surrounding villages. The range covers more than 1,000 products, including loose leaf teas, tea bags and over seventy freshly roasted coffees, all packed to order in sizes from 30g samples up to 1kg trade packs.
Coffee is roasted on a Neuhaus Neotec fluidised air-bed system, with origins drawn from Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Central America and South America. Flagship lines include Kentish Tea, Kentish Roast Coffee, Pluckley Tea and Sussex Tea Original Kenya Blend.
A bespoke blending service, wholesale accounts and an online subscription complete the offer, alongside a factory shop on site.
