Lost Sheep Coffee was founded in 2012 by Stuart and Sarah, who picked up a love of specialty coffee in Melbourne and brought an Australian-influenced approach back to Whitstable in Kent. The Aussie-style positioning carries through into the way the roastery talks about coffee, leaning towards approachability over formality.
The range now stretches well beyond whole bean and ground, taking in ready-to-drink iced coffee cans, espresso concentrate and Nespresso-compatible pods, with a sizeable decaf and half-caff line-up alongside the main offer. Lost Sheep says all bean and ground packaging is fully recyclable, and the Nespresso-compatible capsules are certified home compostable.
The team works with family farms where possible and reports paying above standard Fairtrade prices. Recognition includes a Great British Food Awards win in 2024, with coverage in titles including Delicious, The Independent, The Telegraph and The Grocer.
