Tank Coffee is a Greater Manchester roastery based in Leigh, with a long-standing focus on African origins alongside Latin American coffees from Colombia and Brazil. The team works on a direct trade basis with farming cooperatives, aiming to verify fair payment to growers rather than relying solely on certification.
The roastery built its early reputation through the Greenbelt Festival, where the founders ran a large coffee bar at Cheltenham Racecourse and proceeds supported the festival itself. A documentary on the global coffee trade prompted the founders to investigate supply chains in person, with trips to Ethiopia and Kenya to meet farmers.
Tank roasts to order for both home customers and wholesale partners, sells single origins from Ethiopia and Kenya alongside blends and decaf, and offers a monthly subscription. Customers receive coffee in letterbox-friendly packaging, and the site references compostable and recyclable packaging options across its range.
