The Isle of Wight Espresso Company is the wholesale and equipment arm of Island Roasted, a roastery and cafe operation based on the Isle of Wight. The business began in event catering over twenty years ago and started importing Italian commercial machines and Bristot coffee in the late 1990s, before opening its first Caffe Isola in 2006 and beginning to roast its own coffee in 2010.
Commercial roasting moved to a dedicated site on the River Medina in 2013, and the team relocated to the former Beavis building in Newport in 2017, opening a roastery cafe with a first floor retail gallery the following year. The roasting line up now includes a Diedrich IR12, a restored vintage Vittoria 20kg machine from Sicily, a Diedrich IR5 used for profiling, and a 1980s Petronccini 120kg.
Beans are hand roasted in small batches and sourced through direct trade routes where possible, working with smaller farms producing 6 to 300 sacks a year. The company employs over 25 people, holds Wight Marque status awarded in 2014, supplies equipment from Astoria, Storm, Rocket, Ascaso, Fiorenzato and Marco, and provides SCA certified barista training, water treatment and machine servicing across the Island.
