The Penny Roaster arose out of the pandemic of 2020, started by someone who had previously run a speciality coffee house in Devon and decided to move into roasting.
The Penny Roaster arose out of the pandemic of 2020, started by someone who had previously run a speciality coffee house in Devon and decided to move into roasting. Every roast profile and blend is designed personally, with the aim of drawing out the potential of each bean.
Green coffee is sourced directly from importers with close relationships with the farmers, their families and their workers, and in late 2023 a batch was imported directly from a plantation in the Araku Valley in India. The range includes single origin coffees from Brazil, India and Ethiopia alongside blends, and a CO2 process decaf.
Coffee subscriptions are available, and a trade shop offers wholesale customers access to the range, alongside cakes, gifts and merchandise sold directly.
