Bennachie Coffee Roasters was founded in 2017 by Ross Erskine and takes its name from the Bennachie hill range that dominates the skyline of Aberdeenshire. The roastery is based at Banchory Business Centre on Burn O'Bennie Road in Banchory (AB31 5ZU) and supplies specialty-grade coffee across Scotland and the wider UK.
Ross's route into roasting began with time in Sydney's specialty coffee scene in the early 2000s, and the business was eventually shaped by a visit to a friend's roastery in Colorado in 2016. Producer relationships include Fazenda Lagoa in Brazil, described as a farm with forty natural springs, Monte SiOn Estate in El Salvador, recognised by the United Nations for its work combating poverty, and Finca San Jose de las Nubes.
The roastery sources primarily from Latin America, focuses on cup scores above 80 points, and is working towards B Corp certification. The decaf range is made using the Swiss Water Process, a 100% chemical-free method.
