Edinburgh Tea & Coffee Co traces its origins to Andrew Melrose, who began importing tea into Edinburgh in 1812, making it one of the oldest tea and coffee businesses in the UK. The company operates from purpose-built premises at 214 Sir Harry Lauder Road, where coffee is roasted in-house on a 50-year-old Probat drum roaster, overseen by a master roaster on every batch.

Their setup allows blending and packing within an hour of roasting. Beans are sourced from plantations across the globe by a year-round buying team.

The business holds Fairtrade, Organic Food Federation and SALSA certifications, with regular audits. Alongside coffee they produce a range of teas, including Scottish Breakfast, Heather, Highland and Whisky-flavoured blends, sold as loose leaf, pyramid and string-and-tag teabags.

They supply wholesale and sell direct via their Shopify store.
