Red Step

Red Step is Oxford's ethical, small batch specialty roaster, sourcing premium Arabica beans from farmers who care as much about the planet as it does. The business began in a barn in the French countryside, where the founders restored an old roaster and taught themselves to roast, before meeting a representative from a Cameroonian coffee cooperative whose stories of smallholder farmers inspired the direct trade model.

Red Step now works directly with small scale farmers in Cameroon, eliminating middlemen and running a profit sharing model that returns a portion of every sale to farming communities. Its partner is Terra Noun, a cooperative in the Noun region of Cameroon that supports around 1,200 members across 26 villages through agroforestry and organic growing.

The range is single origin, with coffees from Brazil, Burundi, Cameroon, Colombia, Nicaragua and Peru, roasted in small batches and sold as whole bean or ground.
