Derbyshire has 4 independent coffee roasters with an unusually broad age spread. The heritage end is anchored by Northern Tea Merchants in Chesterfield, three generations of the Pogson family with roots back to 1926. The modern specialty side is led by 47 Degrees Coffee Roasters, where founder Aidy set up in 2017 after being made redundant and has since accumulated 29 Great Taste Awards from the Guild of Fine Food, with mentions in The Times. The other two roasters (Peak Bean in Furness Vale, Seamoor in Bradwell) work the Peak District side of the county.
All four Derbyshire roasters skew online and wholesale rather than retail. The Peak District (Peak Bean in the High Peak, Seamoor in Bradwell) makes for a good destination if you are walking the area; Chesterfield (Northern Tea) is the easier urban stop.
