Coffee roasters in Norfolk

Norfolk has 9 independent coffee roasters, anchored by Norwich (Strangers, Symposium, The Little Red Roaster) with the rest spread across rural North Norfolk, the King's Lynn area and the village of Reepham. The age range is unusual: Tropic Coffee in King's Lynn has been roasting since 1983, while several of the rural roasters opened only in the last five years. The county's growing food and drink reputation supports both ends.

Tropic Coffee has been operating from King's Lynn since 1983, founded by Martin Sanctuary; over forty years on, the business is still family owned and operates from the same Norfolk roastery, offering retail, wholesale, private label and bespoke blend development. Symposium Coffee, in Norwich, holds Smithsonian Bird Friendly certification (a rare standard requiring shade grown coffee that maintains canopy cover for migratory birds) and runs its roastery on clean energy rather than gas. Strangers Coffee Company has been in Norwich since 2009, running a roastery on Dove Street alongside cafes on Pottergate and All Saints Green; the coffee programme is light roast focused with a frequently rotating single origin selection.

Norwich is the easiest visitor stop, with three roasteries open to the public within a short walk of the city centre. North Norfolk (Grey Seal in the coastal villages) and the Reepham area (Norfolk Coffee at Salle Moor Hall Farm, where you can walk the farm while the coffee roasts) reward a longer drive.
